Solo Performances

Learn more about Jay's Solo Performances

Jay gives world music performances with voice, percussion, bass and guitar that are both soulful and interactive.

Jay's performance entitled "World Percussion and Beyond" gives kids and their grownups a chance to dance, sing, clap, and drum in rhythm with jazz, African, and Carribean music. Jay brings an assortment of fascinating instruments, including the talking drum, shekere, stand-up bass, and congas, and he uses these to create music that is interesting, soulful, and foot stomping!

In addition to his solo work, Jay plays regularly with the swing/jazz/dance quartet Jazzberry Jam, the world music duo African Rhythms and World Music, the acoustic rock duo, Kasnitz & Cook, and the soul/motown/worldbeat band, Mogoya.

He has also performed and recorded bass and/or percussion with "Hothouse Zydeco," singer-guitarist Jeff Brewer, the "Bonnie Waters Dream Band," the "Brattleboro Community Chorus," singer-songwriter Mike Mrowicki, and various jazz pianists and guitarists.
